"Cocktails For A Cause"

Project HALO (Helping Animals Live On) is a non-profit, NO-KILL animal rescue and sanctuary based in Charlotte, N.C. We are a 100% volunteer organization and are funded privately by generous donors.

Who They Are and Their Mission
Project HALO is a proud member of Partnership For Pets.

Project HALO rescues homeless, stray and unwanted dogs and gives them a second chance, providing a safe and loving foster home along with any medical attention they may need while looking for permanent loving homes to adopt them. All of Project HALO’s animals are spayed or neutered and are vet current at the time of their adoption. Further, we provide a home for those animals that are deemed unadoptable so they may live out the rest of their lives in a loving, caring atmosphere.

There are many things that sets Project HALO apart from other organizations. For one, no one is paid a salary through Project HALO so you know that every penny you donate goes to the direct care of the animals.

We are a federal non-profit and will provide all financial documentation upon request. We receive no county, federal, or government funding. All of our donations come from the private sector.

Training Your Dog
Project HALO is now offering In-Home Clicker Training.

“Clicker training” is an animal training method based on behavioral psychology that relies on marking desirable behavior and rewarding it.

Desirable behavior is usually marked by using a “clicker”, a mechanical device that makes a short, distinct “click” sound, which tells the animal exactly when they’re doing the right thing. This clear form of communication, combined with positive reinforcement, is an effective, safe, and human way to teach any animal any behavior that it’s physically and mentally capable of doing.

We will be offering a discount to all new adopting families in the Charlotte and surrounding areas.

The Sanctuary
Many of the dogs that come to Project HALO have nowhere else to go. Sometimes, a dog’s behavior prevents him from being adopted. Sometimes, it’s his medical condition or his age or even his breed. This is the end of the line for them. When a dog has no other options and is threatened with euthanasia, he is welcome here! Dogs that fit this description are permanent residents of the shelter. Most of them end up with no one to sponsor them, they need your help to pay for their routine care and daily needs. Please click on their pictures to read their stories. We hope that you’ll find it in your heart to make a one-time donation or become a Monthly Sponsor. Your donations make it possible for Project HALO to continue helping these dogs!
